Richard "Rick" Wayne Cheney
September 16th, 1957 - January 3rd, 2025
Richard “Rick” Wayne Cheney Born September 16th, 1957, Passed away peacefully on Jan 3rd 2025. Rick was born in Fort Collins, CO. He lived in Clarksville Arkansas for 6 months as a child. He also lived in Wellington, Waverly, Fort Collins and most of his life in LaPorte CO. He attended Cache La Poudre Elementary and Jr High and Poudre High School. After high school he joined the service for a short time when he was medically discharged. He married Susan VanValkenburg and they had two children together Chad and Jennifer. They divorced later in life. Rick worked as a maintenance man and plumber for many different places. There wasn’t much he couldn’t fix. He also spent some summers in Walden CO working. Rick loved oldies music, especially the Ventures, hot rods, building models, playing his guitar, flying model airplanes, telling stories, the Munsters, and old western TV shows. He loved the movie “American Graffiti” and we would sit for hours and quote it. Rick always had a joke although not always appropriate! You could always put a smile on his face with an order of biscuits and gravy from Ever Open as long as there was Tabasco! Rick is survived by his Son Chad Cheney, Daughter Jennifer Bay (Billy), Grandkids Kaylana (Andrew), Brayden and Avery and a Great Granddaughter Hazel. Sisters, Pat Witman, Linda Powers (Les), Mary Betts (Carl) and many other Cousins, Nieces and Nephews and extended family members. He is also survived by his real pride and joy, his dog Blue. He is proceeded in death by his father Clinton Wayne Cheney, His mother Irene Elizabeth Cheney, and sisters Wanda Hilgenburg and Connie Soderberg. Rick loved his family fiercely, especially his grandkids and was proud of them all. As per his wishes there will not be a funeral or a service, however, at a later date we will have a “get together” with food and oldies music. Rick will be greatly missed by us all.
