Edith Mae Shomo

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Edith “Edie” Shomo, a true Southern lady, devoted wife, sister, and much loved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Edie left this world peacefully on January 7 after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Born in Arkansas in 1934, Edie embodied best qualities of her Southern roots. In her younger years, she was an avid bowler, spending many joyful afternoons on the lanes with friends. But it was on the dance floor and in her garden where her heart truly came alive for so many years.

Edie was married for 55 wonderful years to the love of her life, Robert, who preceded her in death. She is survived by her three loving children Deborah (Dale), Lisa, and Robert Jr (Janet) along with her many cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is now reunited with Robert and other loved ones who have gone before her, undoubtedly dancing once again among the stars.

A private family celebration of Edie’s life will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Edie’s name to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America.
