Jennie Lou (Sullenberger) Simpson
February 24th, 1931 - December 25th, 2024
Jennie Lou (Sullenberger) Simpson, 93, of Woodland Park, CO, passed away peacefully on December 25, 2024, due to natural causes. She was born on February 24, 1931, in Piqua, OH, the daughter of Robert and Mary Sullenberger. Jennie lived a full and vibrant life, dedicating much of her time to both her family and her work.
For over 20 years, Jennie worked as a bookkeeper for Blick's Sporting Goods. Later, she found fulfillment in her role as a loan officer for the School District 11 Credit Union, where she served for 15 years. Her keen mind and strong work ethic left a lasting impact on her colleagues and the communities she served.
In her personal life, Jennie was a passionate reader, a lover of travel, and cherished spending time with her family. Above all, Jennie was deeply devoted to her loved ones and took great joy in the company of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was a woman of strong faith, maintaining her Methodist roots while also participating in Catholic traditions throughout her life.
Jennie was married to Robert Lee Lamme for 11 years and later to Norman Webster Simpson for 28 years, before his untimely passing. She is survived by her two sons, Michael Robert Lamme (wife, Candy Lamme) of Ohio and Tony Simpson (wife, Sylvia Simpson) of Colorado. She also leaves behind her grandchildren Jason Taylor, Jennie Gearhardt, Dacey McNall, Savanna Simpson, Joshua Simpson, Jacob Simpson, TJ Bowman, and Jamie Bowman, along with 14 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren, all of whom were a source of immense pride and joy.
Jennie was preceded in death by her second husband, Norman Webster Simpson; her daughter, Susan Taylor; her father, Robert Sullenberger; her mother, Mary Sullenberger; and her brother, Bob Sullenberger.
Jennie’s warmth, kindness, and unwavering love for her family will be deeply missed by all who knew her. A service celebrating her life will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church 2030 W. Colorado Ave Colorado Springs, CO 80904 on Friday, January 10, 2025 at 10:00am.
