Patrick Michael “Mike” Pickett, 66, of Fort Myers, Florida, and Colorado Springs, Colorado, passed away on December 31, 2024, after a battle with heart illness. Michael was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on December 22, 1958, to the late Joseph Oliver Pickett and Mary Adele Pickett (née Ginley).
He will be greatly missed by his wife of 32 years, Elizabeth “Liz” Pickett. He was a proud and loving father to Liliana “Lili” Pickett and Gabriela Frazelle (née Pickett), and a proud and loving father-in-law to Andrew Frazelle. Michael was a cherished younger brother to Joseph “Jay” Pickett (Vicki), Thomas Pickett (1951-2022) (Karen), and Catherine Long (née Pickett) (Robert), and a beloved older brother to Adele Woodard (née Pickett) (Jack). He was also “Uncle Mike” to many nieces and nephews, and “Mike” to countless dear friends.
Whether in his birthplace of Cleveland, his 25-year-home of Fort Myers, or his new home of Colorado Springs, Michael befriended everyone he met. There are many store clerks, waiters, butchers, and firewood sellers who will certainly miss Michael’s presence.
Michael was a dedicated father and husband; an avid griller; an award-winning chili cook; and an unwavering Cleveland Browns fan. Michael and Elizabeth met at Cleveland Hopkins Airport. They spent years enjoying Florida sunsets and ultimately the beauty of the Colorado Rocky Mountains. Michael was President of the PTA at Gabriela’s elementary school and worked the curtains at her community theater. He was a passionate volleyball dad to Lili and attended Canterbury Cougar Volleyball games even after she graduated. He was proud to serve on the Board of Trustees at Gabriela and Lili’s alma mater, The Canterbury School of Fort Myers.
A memorial service will be held for Michael on Friday, January 17th, at 10 am at St. Patrick’s on Bridge Avenue in Cleveland, Ohio.
