Mrs. Shirley Mae Covarrubias, age 44, a resident of Lake Alfred, Florida passed away Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at Winter Haven Hospital surrounded by family. Mrs. Covarrubias was born November 8, 1980, in Denver, Colorado to Jose and Tina Renee (Williams) Gonzalez. She was a Polk County resident since the 1980’s coming from Colorado and a homemaker. Shirley enjoyed volunteering at all the kids elementary schools, helping others, crafting, going to the beach and spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her mother in 2011; paternal & maternal grandparents. Shirley is survived by her loving family, husband of 20 years – Noe Covarrubias of Lake Alfred; 4 sons – Oscar Valdez of Auburndale, Jacob Covarrubias of Lake Alfred, Joshua Covarrubias of Lake Alfred & Kaleb Covarrubias of Lake Alfred; daughter – Julianna Fuentes of Lake Alfred; brother – Isaias Fuentes of Winter Haven; 2 sisters – Christina Williams of Auburndale & Misty Holt of Auburndale; granddaughter – Liliana Mae Fuentes of Lake Alfred; 6 nephews – Jay’vaun, Tay’vaun, Aushunte, Darien, Bradley & Keegan; 3 nieces – Za’myria, Mari’yana & Jasmine. Funeral service will be held 4pm Friday, January 17th at Kersey Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 3.
