Barney Wilson, 83, of Johnstown, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at Albany Medical Center.

 

Born on April 8, 1941, in Gloversville, the son of the late Marietta (Johnson) Wilson.

 

A lifelong resident of the area, Barney attended Northville Central School District. In 1958, Barney enlisted into the United States Navy, where he proudly served his country until 1962.

 

Barney retired from Taylor Made in Gloversville; he then went on to work for Johnstown Price Chopper and retired after 10 years. He was a member of the Johnstown Moose and the Lazy 8 R/C Club.

 

He loved to work in his yard and travel with his family, they always looked forward to their crusies and trips to NYC. He loved always having the family all together. Most of all, Barney was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend who will be greatly missed by all.

 

Barney is survived by his loving wife, Marian (Pagano) Wilson; daughter, Toni (Wilson) Muzzi (Tim); son, Brad Wilson (Yeni); grandchildren, Mathew Muzzi (fiance, Amber), Aaron Muzzi (Kristelle) and Sara Wilson; great-grandchildren, Ryland Muzzi, Oakley Muzzi and Sawyer Muzzi. He was predeceased by his sisters, Carol Slaybaugh, Catherine Roberts and Marilyn Sanders.

 

A funeral service for Barney will be held on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at 7pm, where calling hours will be held prior beginning at 4pm at Betz, Rossi, Bellinger & Stewart Family Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville. Barney will be laid to rest in the spring at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Johnstown.

 

Memorial donations in Barney's name can be made to a Cancer Foundation of one's choice or to the Fulton Co. Reginal SPCA, 117 W. Fulton Street, Gloversville, 12078.
