Gary Allen Smith, 71, of Lexington, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, January 10th at Baptist Health Hospital in Lexington.
He was born in Corinth KY on March 7th, 1953 to the late Eva Mae Morris & Robert Smith.
Gary is survived by his wife Patsy of 52 years, 6 children Pam (Todd) Rion of Hamilton, OH, Robbie (Bunny) Smith of Lexington, Lorraine Smith of Lexington, Susan (Rodney) Hittle of Arcanum, OH, Gary Allen Smith Jr of Lexington, Scott (Lisa) Smith of Nicholasville; 10 grandkids; 16 great grand kids; 4 brothers Frank Hambrick of Georgetown, Jerry Smith of Lexington, Ronnie Smith of Stamping Ground and Billy (Sharon) Smith of Berea; and 2 sisters Sandy Smith of Mt. Vernon and Pam (Larry) McFerron of Mt. Vernon.
He was preceded in death by his father Robert, his mother Eva, his sister Wanda Brandt of NC, and one grandson, Austen.
He had a love for life, his family and his friends that was unmatched. He had perfect timing for cracking jokes and the ability to always make people laugh and smile. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, being a part of the Jeep community and tinkering around in his garage but his most favorite activity was spending time with his wife. He will be greatly missed and forever loved.
