Mario A. Paralta peacefully passed away on January 8, 2025, at the age of 75. Born on March 27, 1949, in the civil parish of Santiago de Cassurraes, Mangualde, Portugal. Mario's journey led him to touch the lives of many with his kind, gentle, and loving nature.

In 1958, at the age of nine, Mario immigrated to the United States with his family from Portugal, settling in Pittsfield, Massachusetts. In 1970, he married his first wife, Rosa Martins, with whom he had two daughters.

In 1990, he married Barbara Case, and together they shared a marriage of 31 years. They built a beautiful home in Housatonic, Massachusetts, where they lived until 1997, before relocating to sunny Seminole, Florida. Mario’s professional life was marked by dedication and leadership, with over 20 years as an autobody technician in Pittsfield, MA and over 20 years as a manufacturing supervisor at Johnson Controls in Largo, FL.

Mario's family was the centerpiece of his life. He is survived by his daughters, Nancy Johnson and her husband, Mark, of Fall River, MA, and Diane Matheus and her husband, David, of Taunton, MA; his stepson, Michael Case and his wife, Jennie, of Yorktown, VA; and his stepdaughters, Judi Case Gordan and her husband, Andrew, of Madeira Beach, FL, and Kelly Case VonBraunsberg and her husband, Tom, of Tampa, FL. His legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren, Emma Plante, Mya Johnson, and Neely and David Matheus Jr.. Mario is also survived by his sister, Maria Paralta Giannopolo and her husband, Joseph, of Pittsfield, MA, and his brother, Anthony Paralta and his wife, Cynthia, of Cape Cod, MA, along with nieces Susan England and Sandra Tufts, and nephews Michael Giannopolo and Adam Paralta and his dear friend, Frances Elliott, who brought him recent joy and companionship. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Barbara, who passed away in 2021, as well as his parents, Jose and Maria Paralta.

An avid New England sports fan, Mario's enthusiasm for his teams was only surpassed by his adoration for his grandchildren. He spent every summer in New England, a tradition he cherished, as it allowed him to be close to "his girls," Nancy and Diane. He also enjoyed spending time outdoors, going for long walks, and had a delightful knack for entertaining with his dry wit. Whether he was sharing stories or teasing with a playful sense of humor, he had a special way of capturing the attention of those around him. Mario was a loving, sweet, and handsome man, but more than anything, he was humble and kind.

Mario's life was a testament to the importance of love, family, and laughter. As we bid farewell to this wonderful man, we take comfort in knowing that his spirit will continue to guide and inspire us. Mario A. Paralta will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved him.

Mario will be laid to rest at Bay Pines National Cemetery, St Petersburg, FL at a later date.  Donations can be made in Mario's memory to the Tampa Cancer Institute.
