Joy Beth Arrant Bodnar, 72, of Kernersville, NC passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 12, 2025.
A native of Clyde, NC, Joy was the wife of the late Jim Bodnar and the daughter of Lomer Bass Arrant and Kathryn Auberry Arrant, both deceased. She received a Bachelor of Science Degree from Appalachian State and a Master of Science Degree from the University of Georgia. Joy worked for 10 years in Syracuse, NY for Bristol Myers. She then worked 31 years until retirement for R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Co., later known as Reynolds America, in Winston-Salem, NC as master scientist.
Survivors include her sister, Anita Kesler; niece, Amanda Ross; nephew, David Arrant; and several cousins.
In addition to her husband and parents, Joy was preceded in death by her brother, Phillip Arrant.
Funeral services celebrating Joy’s life will be held at 1:00 PM Monday, January 20, 2025, at the Pierce-Jefferson Funeral Services Kernersville Chapel with Rev. Jeff Patterson officiating. The family will greet friends from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM Monday prior to the service in the chapel. Entombment will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at the Gardens of Memory Walkertown Mausoleum, Walkertown, NC.
