Emory L. West
July 15th, 1942 - January 14th, 2025
Emory L. West, a cherished figure in the lives of many, passed away on January 14, 2025, at the age of 82, at the Carl Vinson VA Medical Center in Dublin, Georgia. As per the family's wishes, all services for Emory West will remain private. The family appreciates the support and understanding during this time and invites those who wish to honor Emory's memory to do so by reflecting on his life of service, kindness, and quiet strength.
Born on July 15, 1942, in Unadilla, Georgia, Emory lived a life replete with dedication, service, and kindness. Emory was a devoted husband to Dawn West, with whom he shared 58 treasured years of marriage. He was a loving father to Kevin (Daphne) West and a proud grandfather to Blake West and Kayla West. His family extended further through his nephews, Robert (Lisa) West, Shannon (Wendy) West, Shane (Lori) West, and Shelby West, each of whom he cherished dearly.
Emory's life was marked by his service to his country, having spent several years as a skilled aircraft engine mechanic. From November 1961 to March 1966, he served honorably in the US Navy, followed shortly by his commitment to the US Air Force from May to October of 1966. His tenure in the Air Force was cut short due to physical disability, but his honorable discharge underscored the bravery and dedication inherent to his character. His mechanical talents extended far beyond his military career, as he possessed an innate curiosity and proficiency in fixing everything from lawnmowers to complex aircraft systems. Emory took immense pleasure in woodworking, a testament to his patience and creativity.
Emory was a kind and considerate man—a gentle soul always ready to lend a hand as a handyman for his friends, neighbors, and loved ones. His quiet demeanor belied a strong, supportive presence that his family could always rely on for care and guidance.
May his soul rest in peace, carried forward by the love and respect of those he leaves behind. Please sign the online guest registry at www.heritagemfh.com and leave a personal condolence for the family.
Heritage Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory has the honor of being entrusted with the arrangements.
