In solemn remembrance, we announce the passing of Cheryl Lynn Tyree, who left this world on January 6, 2025. Born on July 19, 1948, in Vallejo, California, she departed this life at the age of 76 in Olympia, Washington.
Cheryl’s life was a tapestry of commitment, compassion, and profound intellect. A woman of remarkable academic accomplishments, she earned both a Ph.D. and a J.D., which she utilized not only in her career but also to uplift those around her. For over twenty years, she practiced law with an unwavering commitment to justice and equality. Her dedication to the legal profession was paralleled by her passion for education, as she shared her wealth of knowledge with students at Chico State Coast and Butte College.
Cheryl's legacy extends beyond her professional achievements. She was a fervent advocate for vulnerable communities, contributing her expertise to various organizations that supported rape crisis victims, pregnant teens, runaway youths, and first-time offenders through diversion programs. Her work provided much-needed support and direction, making a lasting impact on countless lives.
Those who knew Cheryl remember her as a deeply compassionate soul, renowned for her readiness to help those in need. Her legal acumen was matched only by her kindness, endearing her to clients, colleagues, and friends alike.
For four decades, Cheryl resided in Chico, California, a place she held dear until health reasons led her to relocate to Olympia, Washington. Her move did not diminish her spirit or her commitment to making a difference in her new community.

Her passing leaves a lasting impact on those who knew her, but her legacy of love and service will continue to inspire us all.
