Ronald Coon, 89, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 13th. Born to Clarence & Waunita in 1935 in Loveland, Colorado, Ron grew up in his hometown, where he developed the kind & compassionate spirit for which he will always be remembered.

In 1955, Ron was drafted into the Army & stationed in Kansas, where he served as a military ambulance driver. During this time, he married the love of his life, Eunice, in 1956. Together, they built a lifetime of love, raising five children in a home filled with faith, laughter & enduring warmth. Their marriage lasted nearly 60 years, until Eunice’s passing in 2014, & her memory remained forever close to Ron’s heart.

Ron & Eunice’s journey took them from Kansas to Oregon between 1967 & 1973 before they returned to Colorado in 1974, where they planted lasting roots. Ron initially worked in construction during the early 1970s before transitioning to a 24-year maintenance career at the hospital, retiring in 2005.

Music played a significant role in Ron & Eunice’s life together, a shared passion that brought joy to their early years & beyond. A man of deep faith & talent, Ron was a gifted violinist who performed with the Fort Collins Symphony, including memorable performances at Red Rocks Amphitheatre. He also sang with a local vocal group & was a member of his church choir.

Ron’s unwavering faith & devotion to his church were the cornerstones of his life. His strong values guided his life, inspiring & touching the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Above all, Ron cherished his family & friends. His greatest joy came from the time spent surrounded by their love & presence. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, a loving father & a proud grandfather & great-grandfather. His wisdom, humor & kind heart enriched the lives of everyone he met.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife Eunice & his son Terry. He is survived by his four children, eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren & one great-great-grandchild, as well as many extended family members & dear friends.

A celebration of Ron’s life will be held at Viegut Funeral Home on Monday, 01/20 at 1pm.
