Mary "Liz" Elizabeth DeVargas
October 28th, 1952 - December 11th, 2024
Mary Elizabeth “Liz” DeVargas, 72, a resident of Rio Rancho, NM passed away on December 11, 2024, and is now in heaven with our Lord. Liz is survived by her children; Rebecca of Rio Rancho , Thadd and his wife Jessica of Los Lunas, Alexia of Rio Rancho, Sean and his wife Natasha of Rio Rancho; her sisters Patti Urioste of Bernalillo, Kathy Castillo and her husband, Kevin of Rio Rancho; Nine grandchildren, Ashley, Jonathan, Jaylene, Andrew, Sean Michael, Sydney, Analicia, Janelle and Daniel; One great-grandchild, Titus, and multiple nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Epi and Kate Mares, her brother James Mares and his wife Liz, sister Tomasita Navarro and her husband, George, and her brother Stan.
Liz delighted in crocheting and baking, and loved trying out new recipes she would find for her grandchildren. She was an avid reader and enjoyed watching movies, especially westerns that starred John Wayne.
Rosary will be held on Friday, February 7, 2025, at 10 am with the mass following immediately after, at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic church in Bernalillo, NM. Pallbearers will be her grandsons; Jonathan Vargas, Andrew Barela, and Sean Michael Vargas, and Albert Barela. Honorary pallbearers will be her granddaughters, Ashley Vargas, Jaylene Vargas, Sydney Vargas, Analicia Vargas, Janelle Vargas and grandson, Daniel Boman.
