John James Franklin
November 15th, 1936 - December 18th, 2024
In Loving Memory of John James FranklinNovember 15, 1936 – December 18, 2024
We honor the extraordinary life of John James Franklin—Marine, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and cherished friend. Born in Boston, Massachusetts, in 1936, John carried the grit, charm, and unmistakable accent of his hometown wherever life led him. He later made Albuquerque, New Mexico, his home, but his Boston roots and resilient spirit remained defining parts of his character.
John lived a rich and dynamic life. He began as a milkman, proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps, and became a skilled trainer of police and guard dogs, demonstrating his unique ability to balance discipline with compassion. As the owner of Barbara’s Pet Parade, John nurtured his love of animals, connecting deeply with both pets and their owners alike.
A man of immense joy, humor, and warmth, John's laughter could brighten any room. His love for life, family, and country leaves an indelible mark on all who had the privilege to know him.
John was preceded in death by his parents, James and Ethel Franklin, and his grandson, Stephen Pesce Jr. He is lovingly remembered by his sisters, Josephine Gaff and Olga Robinson; his former spouse and dear friend Barbara Franklin; his children, John Franklin Jr., Lori Tammaro, and Adam Franklin; his grandchildren, Bry and Adele Franklin, Jeremy John and Jaycee Adam Franklin, Cherise and Sheena Pesce, Chanel Marichal, and Max, Seth, and Sage Franklin; and his great-grandchildren, Adiella, Jayliella, Michel and Jadiel Marichal, Leilani and Juliette Jonathas.
"Don’t worry, be happy," was one of his favorite songs and a reflection of his approach to life.
You are deeply loved and profoundly missed, John. Semper Fi.
