It is with deep respect and a profound sense of loss that we announce the passing of Audrey Mae Michalak, who departed this life on January 2, 2025, in Olympia, Washington. Born on February 18, 1937, in the vibrant city of Portland, Oregon, Audrey lived a life marked by kindness, devotion, and faith.
A graduate of Holy Rosary High School in Portland, Oregon, Class of 1955, Audrey's journey through life was characterized by her unwavering smile and the warmth she extended to everyone she met. She embraced her role as a loving mother and devoted member of her community.
For many years, Audrey could be found at Harborside restaurant, where she worked as a waitress, and in the church administration office at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Her professional journey reflected her nurturing spirit and her dedication to others. Audrey was a respected member of the Sacred Heart Catholic community in Lacey, Washington, where her faith was a guiding light in her life and the lives of those around her.
Known for her ever-present smile, Audrey had the rare ability to imbue joy into the lives of all who crossed her path. Her interests ranged from the melodic notes of musical theatre, finding joy in singing with the Church Choir, to the thrilling innings of Mariners baseball games. She also cherished her visits to the casino, where her infectious laughter could often be heard.
Her genuine spirit remains a cherished memory for her surviving children: sons David Michalak of Tumwater, WA, and Chris Michalak of Tenino, WA; daughters Theresa Brown, also of Tenino, and Liz Aubry of Portland, Oregon. Audrey's legacy extends through her beloved six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
In accordance with Audrey's wishes, there will be no formal service. Her family will continue to honor her memory in their hearts and through shared stories and cherished memories.
Though mourned, Audrey Mae Michalak will be remembered for her generosity, her unwavering faith, and her warm smile that could brighten even the darkest days. Her spirit lives on in the hearts of all who loved her.
