Virgil C Harberts
November 8th, 1939 - January 9th, 2025
Be the things you loved most about the people that are gone!
Virgil C. Harberts, age 85 died on January 9th, 2025, at his home in Bonney Lake, WA. Virgil the son of Hajo Harberts and Augusta (Harms) Harberts, was born on November 8th, 1939, in Adrain, MN. Virgil grew up on a farm in Rushmore Minnesota where stories say he and his five brothers, and one sister were well known for their hard work and of course some “good” natured pranks on family, friends and anyone else they felt deserving! Virgil having the desire to serve, left the farm and enlisted in the Army where he honorably served his country from 1962-1968 working on missiles in Germany.
Virgil married Marlys (Prins) Harberts on July 11th, 1970, in Rushmore, MN. Virgil spent his career in the airline industry working for Western Airlines and later Delta Airlines where he made many wonderful friends along the way. Virgil is survived by his children, Shelly Harberts of Sumner, WA, and Ryan and Marcie Harberts of Buckley, WA; grandchildren, Casey and Kendall, Nicholas and Breanna, and Zachary; great granddaughter, Ila Harberts, sister Eunice and brother Denny. Virgil was preceded in death by the only love of his life Marlys, parents, Hajo and Augusta and brothers, Harold, Myron (Mike), Roger and Daryl.
Virgil will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all whose lives he touched with his big heart and welcoming smile. His legacy of love, hard work, and service will remain an enduring inspiration to those he leaves behind. Give mom a hug from all of us! We love you!
Funeral services will be Thursday, January 30th 11 AM at Tahoma-National Cemetery. The family requests in place of flowers, donations be made in Virgil’s name to: Donate - Hospice Foundation of America. Please sign the online guest book at curnowfuneralhome.com.
