For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our devoted mother, Deborah “Debbie” Vanvolkenburg (Baumann). She passed at home on January 14, 2025 at the age of 68.

She was a beloved mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. Debbie is survived by her only sibling David Baumann (Vanessa) of Goose Creek, SC; two daughters, Stacy Scholl (Lynn) and Shelly Carter (Darryl) of Summerville, SC and one son Shawn Vanvolkenburg (Natalie) of Ridgeway, SC. She is also survived by her adored grandchildren Ryan, Jacob, Olivia, Garner, Garret, and nephew Logan.

Debbie was born in Milwaukee, WI on August 7, 1956.  She was the daughter of the late Georgie and Donald Baumann. She grew up in Maplewood, WI and was a 1975 graduate of Southern Door high school in Brussels, WI. Debbie and her family moved to Summerville in 1987 where she was employed at Evan’s Rule. She raised her three children and overcame numerous health battles along the way. Debbie received a second chance at life when she received a kidney transplant in 2019, of which she was eternally grateful for. Her new kidney allowed her more freedom to do the things she enjoyed most. She had a deep love for her family, especially her grandchildren, whom she doted on with affection and care. She cherished every moment spent with them. Debbie was also a devoted Green Bay Packers supporter. She cheered for them from the comfort of her home or enjoyed the camaraderie of watching games with family and friends. Debbie had a love for music and dancing. She often reminisced about the times she and her father were dancing the polka to their favorite tunes. She now dances in the sky with her Lord and Savior, surrounded by the loving embrace of her parents.

Friends and family are invited to a celebration of her life on Friday, January 31, 2025 from 2:00 to 4:00pm at Simplicity Lowcountry Cremation and Burial Services located at 281 Treeland Dr. Suite C Ladson, SC 29456.
