Snoke, Jane Elizabeth, 88, peacefully entered into rest on Friday, January 17, 2025 in St. Petersburg, Florida, after a brief stay in the hospital, surrounded during visits from her many beloved family members. She is survived by her devoted daughters, Judith Dano (Kerry), Lisa Thompson (David), and Carol Mitchell, along with a host of loving nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband of more than 60 years, Paul Stephen Snoke, D.O.; her father, Paul F. Whiteside; her mother, Ruth M. Whiteside; and her brother, Donald L. Whiteside.

Jane was born on August 12, 1936, in Witmer, Pennsylvania. After graduating from East Lampeter High School in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, she pursued a career in nursing, attending the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, where she earned her Registered Nurse degree. It was during her time at PCOM that she met her future husband, Paul, and together they embarked on a life full of love and adventure. The couple moved with their daughters to various places, including Ft. Worth, Texas, Saginaw, Michigan, and the Tampa Bay area.

Following her distinguished nursing career, Jane and Paul retired to Treasure Island, where they enjoyed their home on the water and their boat, Lady Jane. During her “retirement”, Jane worked at several jewelry stores, nurtured her award-winning flower garden, and was a dedicated fan of the Tampa Bay Rays and Lightning. Above all, Jane cherished her role as an extraordinary “Nana” to her six grandchildren, a role in which she excelled and brought immeasurable love and joy. A woman of deep and abiding faith, Jane found strength and comfort in her beliefs, which sustained her during life’s most challenging moments. She celebrated the accomplishments of her family as if they were her own, always lifting and encouraging those around her. Jane leaves behind a legacy that will continue to inspire all who knew her.

A memorial service will be held on February 8, 2025 at 11 am, at First Presbyterian Church, located at 701 Beach Drive NE, St. Petersburg, Florida 33701. This service will be livestreamed on YouTube and can be viewed using this link. At a later date, a private burial will take place at Bay Pines VA National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Jane’s name to First Presbyterian Church. Contributions can be made online at https://www.fpcstpete.com/
