Don passed away peacefully in his home on January 24, 2023.

A fun-loving man all of his life, the last few years health issues took a toll.

He is survived by his twin brother Bob Dahl (wife Melissa and children Zoe, Katie, Eden & Willow), his sister Barbara Dahl, his daughter Tia Dahl-Holmes (husband Paul and son Andrew) and his previous wives Beth Dahl and Sheila Dahl.

Vern and Maxine welcomed Don and Bob in 1950. They raised the kids in the Bay Area. The two boys were quite a handful. It was often difficult to tell them apart, so they played some tricks on people along the way.

In his youth Don was quite an athlete, playing baseball, basketball and golf.

Don loved music. He frequented The Fillmore and Avalon Ballroom in the late ’60s. He traveled back and forth from East to West Coast, making new friends and enjoying festivals like the Fiddlers Convention. Don was a HUGE Grateful Dead fan; he was a true Deadhead to the end.

In 1975 he married his high school sweetheart Beth, and they, along with their daughter Tia, moved up to Portland, OR.

He later became a grandpa to Tia’s son Andrew. When he married Sheila in 2001 he gained additional children Jake and Sadie and then grandchildren Cody and Dominque. He was also the fun uncle to Bob’s children.

Don always had a dog by his side. Shawney was the first of many beloved animals including Mokie and Persia.

He had a love of the great outdoors, spending time at the beach, hanging at the river, camping in the woods or relaxing in Yelapa Mexico.

He enjoyed couch coaching football with his brother, watching westerns, going to music festivals (like his beloved Country Fair), having a good time with friends and spending time with family.

Don was a true hippy until the end. He was a good human and will be missed by everyone who knew him.
