Glen C. Cisneros, born on February 15, 1956, in Leadville, Colorado, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2025, at the age of 68. A lifelong resident of Leadville at the time of his passing, Glen navigated his life with a blend of determination and candor, deeply rooted in his heritage and surroundings.

From his youth, Glen was a vibrant individual, attending high school both in Leadville, CO and Bloomfield, NM, where he made a notable mark by excelling in wrestling, eventually earning a state title—an achievement he was proud of. After high school, Glen’s adventurous spirit led him to join the Job Corps, and his career path brought him to AMAX Inc., a molybdenum mine in Climax, Colorado, where he labored with dedication. His journey shifted dramatically when he enlisted in the Navy, undertaking rigorous training at the U.S. Naval Training Center in Great Lakes, Illinois, and later graduating in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Glen’s time in the Navy was a defining period; stationed in California, he served on the USS Carl Vinson, a Nimitz-class nuclear-powered aircraft carrier, shortly after its maiden voyage. During his voyages at sea, Glen gained priceless experiences that broadened his horizons through traveling the globe, stories of which he cherished and shared. He jokingly recounted that he learned to swim after joining the Navy. Glen's military career also included service in the Army Reserve.

His marriage to Mary Lou formed part of his life's journey but ended as they moved through their paths separately. Glen’s post-Navy career saw him in Colorado’s notable resort towns like Vail, Copper Mountain, Beaver Creek, and Keystone, where he continued to demonstrate the diligence and skill he'd refined over the years, bolstered by the pride of being a Navy Veteran.

Glen’s personality shone through in countless ways: strong-willed, candid, and compassionate, he was known for his willingness to offer advice and support yet unafraid to share his opinions. He enjoyed riding motorcycles in his youth, and as an adult, he continued to find joy in watching football and baseball, as well as strolling through town and engaging in conversation. Despite wrestling with personal challenges throughout his life, he never shied from his desire to aid those in need, a testament to his character. He willingly lent a hand at St. George Episcopal Church by shoveling snow or assisting with their pantry. Glen lovingly cared for his mother in her later years, fulfilling family responsibilities with grace and duty.

Glen was preceded in death by his grandparents, Candido and Manuelita Martinez, and Eulogio and Rebecca Cisneros, along with his parents, Bernice Blevins and Mercedinio Cisneros Sr.

Glen is survived by his brother, Donald Cisneros (Barbara) of Leadville, CO; his sister, Debbie Sanchez of Albuquerque, NM; his brother, Mercedinio Cisneros Jr. of Questa, NM; and his brother, Dale Cisneros (Liz) of Alamosa, CO. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews: Hope Gonzales (Rick), Manuel Sanchez (Jennifer), Carmen Romero, Donna Cisneros, Brigitte Cisneros (Justin), Alejandro Sanchez, Roman Cisneros, Brandy Cisneros (John), and Carlos Cisneros Sr.; his great-nieces and great-nephews: Destiny Gonzales (Jeffrey Jr.), Audrena Lopez (James), Anthony Cisneros, Faith Gonzales, Isaiah Romero, Iziah Gonzales, Julian Salazar, Mike Salazar, Jasmine Romero, Ylexianna Gonzales, Elliana Terry, Jessica Cisneros, Jayvian Cisneros, and Carlos Cisneros Jr.; and his great-great-nephew and great-great-nieces: Jeffrey Chavez III, Serenity Chavez, and Ellie Lopez.

With an unyielding spirit and opinionated nature, Glen was a man who enjoyed the simple mantra, “Want to dance?” as he often added color to conversations and spirited debates. His fondness for addressing women as "little sis" and young men as "cool breeze" is fondly remembered, reflecting the warmth he exuded. He also ended countless conversations with his sister by saying, “You know I love you.” In his final days at CommonSpirit St. Anthony North Hospital in Westminster, Colorado, Glen was surrounded by his sister Debbie, brothers Donald and Dale, sister-in-law Liz, niece Carmen, and nephew Alejandro. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the medical staff at CommonSpirit for the compassionate care they provided during Glen's last days.

Funeral services will be held in the spring, where Glen will be laid to rest with military honors at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colorado.

As we come together to honor a life lived with vigor and heart, we pay tribute to Glen, whose journey navigated him to the farthest corners of the globe and across vast seas, yet ultimately guided him back home.
