Ardell (Carpenter) Joiner
June 19, 1949 - January 10, 2025
Ardell was born in Arizona to Frank and Joan Carpenter. She lived most of her childhood in Big Valley, CA. She was the older sister to three brothers who she loved (and bickered with) very much.
She met her future husband, Jack Joiner, at ten years old. They both attended Chico State and got married in 1970. She graduated with a BA in Education, and she and Jack traveled the world in their Volkswagen van. Her daughter, Ashley, was born in Germany.
They moved to Durham, CA in 1984 and lived on a small ranch in the almond orchards there. Ardell taught in the local school and led children’s and women’s ministries in her local church.
Her grandson, Dylan, was born in 2012 and lived in Mexico. Ardell regularly traveled there to visit him. When Dylan and Ashley moved to Chico, Ardell and Jack moved next door to be as close as possible.
Ardell loved reading books and helping people. She was known as a fun, enthusiastic, and kind woman to all who met her. She will be greatly missed.
