Charles Christian Colton
December 29th, 1934 - March 23rd, 2023
Charles Christian Colton, of Yucaipa, California, passed away on March 23, 2023, in Canby, Oregon. Charles, better known as Chuck was born in Los Angeles to Charles and Genevieve Colton on December 29, 1934. Chuck graduated from Franklin High School in Highland Park, CA.
During his local trucking career of nearly 40 years, he drove for LASME, Time DC, and last for Yellow Freight. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing “semi-pro” baseball all throughout Los Angeles. He was even invited to try out for the Dodgers in 1959. He enjoyed bowling, playing softball, coaching his son’s little league teams, playing darts at his favorite nightclubs, and betting on the ponies at Santa Anita Racetrack. He loved to sing and was often seen singing karaoke at various places or in cruise ship competitions. He also took pride in his 1978 25th Anniversary Edition Corvette. He won trophies at numerous car shows that he entered. Chuck will be remembered for the many years of hosting the Father’s Day Picnic for family and friends.
Charles had a deep love for his family and is survived by, his eldest daughter, Judi (Craig) Wheeler, his son, Chuck (Yesica) Colton, daughter, Lisa (Rick) Castro, his grandchildren, Jeff (Rachael) Wheeler, Brad Wheeler, Chris (Audrey) Colton, Katie (Scott) Jackson, Kyle (Allison) Colton, Gaby Rios, Sarah (Trevor) Mendenhall, Timothy Shibley, Paul (Aubree) Shibley, Luke Shibley, and his great-grandchildren, Herschel and Dottie Wheeler, London, Cooper, Miles and Rory Colton, Colton and Levi Jackson, Harper Colton, Holly Shibley, Joshua, Seth, Micah, and Hannah Mendenhall. He will also be remembered as a great friend to many.
A Celebration of Life will be held on July 29, 2023, 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. at Active Church, 12954 Bryant St, Yucaipa, CA 92399. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Active Church in Yucaipa or Brighton Hospice in Tualatin Oregon.
