Joy Irene VanLieu
May 28th, 1937 - January 6th, 2025
Joy passed away January 6th from complications of a stroke. Joy was born in Furnace County Nebraska to Cecil and Zola McCarty. She was raised mainly in the Butteville, Donald and Aurora area with her brother Jerry McCarty. Joy graduated from North Marion High School where she met Carl VanLieu.
They were married on June 10, 1956, they had three children. She worked briefly for Boeing in Seattle before moving back to Aurora. Joy volunteered for the Aurora Fire Department Auxiliary. She was very active with her children’s sports and school activities.
Joy is survived by her children, Sheryl, Brian, Ken, brother Jerry McCarty and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held in Canby at Cutsforth’s Old Towne Hall Sunday February 16th at 1PM.
