Barbara Marie (Tatusko) Primrose

In Loving Memory
Barbara Marie (Tatusko) Primrose, 86, of Greensboro, NC, passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday, January 18, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Her life was a testament to love, strength, and generosity, and her family is celebrating the long and blessed years they shared with her.
She was born on August 9, 1938, and spent 66 years living in Westchester County, New York. Barbara was the eldest child of Andrew and Shirley Tatusko, who predeceased her. In 1959, she married Howard Primrose, and together they shared 47 years of marriage filled with devotion, adventure, and family until his passing in 2006. Together, they raised three children and built a life full of cherished memories.
Barbara’s life was filled with hard work and adventure. She held a variety of careers, including travel agent, real estate agent, and bookkeeper. Her married life began in Augusta, Georgia, where Howard was stationed after being drafted into the Army. The couple later returned to the Bronx, NY, before settling in the family home Howard built in Hawthorne, NY. In retirement, they embraced the snowbird lifestyle, dividing their time between Port Saint Lucie, Florida, and New York. In her later years, Barbara made Greensboro, NC, her home, where she found joy in the company of family, friends, and her beloved cat, Presley.
Barbara’s adventurous spirit and love for travel led her to explore countless destinations, both nationally and internationally, creating lasting memories with loved ones. She cherished the time spent with friends, often gathered around the table enjoying a variety of card games together. Barbara was a devoted fan of Elvis Presley, and her joy was evident as she sang and danced along to his timeless hits.
Barbara’s kind, fun-loving, and strong-willed nature endeared her to everyone she met. She had a unique ability to turn strangers into friends, earning her the love of many bonus children and grandchildren who became a special part of her extended family.
Barbara will be deeply missed by her family and friends. She leaves behind her children: Donald Primrose (Laurie) of Greensboro, NC; Kathy Primrose (Perry) of Somers, NY; and Sharon Vroom (Bob) of Kernersville, NC. She is also survived by her seven grandchildren: Daniel Primrose (Karlee), Thomas Whalen, David Whalen, Elizabeth Whalen, Sean Vroom, Ashley Vroom, and Emily Vroom; and her two great-grandchildren: Eva Primrose and Dean Primrose. Barbara is also survived by her three siblings: Andy Tatusko, Mary Lore, and Ronald Tatusko.
Visitation will be held at the Pierce-Jefferson Funeral Services Kernersville Chapel on Thursday, January 23, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A secondary viewing will occur at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 24, 2025, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 4145 Johnson Street High Point, NC, and a funeral mass will follow at 11:30 AM. There will be a Celebration of Life reception following the mass at 4311 Plantation Ridge Lane Greensboro, NC. As a tribute to Barbara, we invite you to wear purple to any of the gatherings, if you so choose.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Barbara’s memory to the ASPCA Foundation, the ALS Association, or the Alzheimer's Association to support causes she held dear.
Barbara’s legacy of love and kindness will remain in the hearts of all who knew her. May she rest in eternal peace.
