Dave Alberts, 87, died at home in Monument, Colorado with his family around him. He was able to see and talk to everyone and to feel the full love surrounding him before he left us, as well as being cared for by Gentiva hospice, exceptional people.

My husband of 65 years was a man of integrity, was kind, and was always respectful of others. He was highly admired by all who knew him. His students of all ages loved him, especially his foreign students whose lives he took great care to make easier as they were in a new and unfamiliar country learning an unfamiliar language.

Dave was born in Santa Barbara, California. He was educated in Whittier, California, where he graduated from high school and college and where he met and married “that Hawaiian girl”, Sally Alexander. It was a marriage that last for 65 years. We were lucky to have found each other at such a young age.

in the 60s, the family, Dave, Sally, and their daughter Julie moved to Honolulu to live near family. Dave taught for three years at Iolani school, a prestigious school and went on to earn a master's degree from the university of Hawaii. During that time, another member joined, David was born at Kapiolani hospital, where we learned Barack Obama was born!

Next, the family moved back to California, where Dave resumed teaching at Adams school, Marymount school, Laguna Blanca school, and adult Ed. In 1993 Dave and Sally moved to Colorado and Dave continued teaching and found his love for teaching high school students English as a second language until he retired.

Dave love sports, music, especially big bands, Frank Sinatra, the Bee Gees and nostalgic 50s songs. I love romantic movies like Notting Hill, When Harry Met Sally, and Sleepless in Seattle. He was a soft hearted guy and what caused him much teasing was his fondness for Hallmark movies! He also love Serrano's coffeehouse in Monument, where he picked up his coffee every day and left a tip for half the price of his coffee!

Our family is extremely lucky to have had Dave as our husband, father, in law, grandfather, (Pa, Gpa, grandpa), uncle, friend, and rock. We will all miss him so much.

David is survived by wife, Sally, daughter, Julie Biolley(Skip), son David Alberts(Cate/Helen). His grandchildren, Tracy Genica(Jon), Alex Biolley, Rachael Alberts, and great grandchildren, Kylie, Tyler, Ryan, Genica, and Theo, Lincoln, and Penelope Biolley. His in-laws, Hays Alexander(Virginia Lee), John Alexander(Gayle), and nephew, Jim Holland(Louise). Niece and nephew, Whitney and Danny Alexander.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents of Velma and Charles Alberts. His sister and brother-in-law Karen and Gerry Holland, niece, Cheryl, and grandson, Tyler Biolley.

We will never forget you, we will always love you and as your wife I will have a hole in my heart forever “that Hawaiian girl”.
