Jean "Jeanie" Stafford Leonard
July 1st, 1928 - January 17th, 2025
Jean “Jeanie” Leonard passed away peacefully at home on Friday January 17, 2025 at the age of 96. Born in Miami, Florida on July 1, 1928 to Kenneth W. and Julia Stafford, Jeanie was one of a kind and not your average almost centenarian. Jeanie loved to play golf and frequently shot in the 80s, even in her nineties. She was also a classical level pianist and artist who loved to garden and grow things. She traveled extensively with her husband of 61 years, Col. (ret) John H. Leonard, who preceded her in death in 2009. She is survived by her three children, John M. Leonard and his wife Tammy, James W. Leonard and his wife Michelle and Julianne Denney and her husband Cliff, plus a bunch of grands and great grands! In Jeanie’s own words, “I want to slide into home base with a grin and exalting in a loud voice ‘God I’m safe at last and what a hell of a life I’ve enjoyed ! Thanks for upholding me with your powerful spirit ever present and being my security blanket every moment of my life’ ” ….. well it was quite a slide but you did it Jeanie and heaven will be a more lively place with you in it.
Graveside services will be held at Church of Our Saviour, 5301 N. Atlantic Ave., Cocoa Beach at 1 pm on Saturday, February1, with a gathering for family and friends afterwards.
