Oscar Carlos Diaz
January 3rd, 1963 - January 7th, 2025
On the evening of January 7th, 2025, Oscar Carlos Diaz, left us to be with the Lord. He was full of life and laughter, a friend to everyone. He was born to Norberto and Eloisa “Gloria” Diaz on January 3rd, 1963 in Tampa Florida.
Oscar was born of Cuban descent and the youngest of three boys. He attended and graduated from King High School in 1982. From there he attended the Fire Academy where he gave his life to being a Firefighter/EMT for 30 years. He cherished his years of playing softball with the Fire Department, family trips to the beach, singing and dancing with everyone. Following retirement he enjoyed traveling with his soulmate, Sabrina; many trips visiting his eldest daughter and her family in Atlanta; caring for his youngest grandchild; dining in a few of his favorite restaurants, like Hooters, with his two younger daughters; golfing with friends and family and working at a vaccination site during the pandemic. He loved spending time with his family and serving his community.
Oscar is preceded in death by his father Norberto, his mother Eloisa and his oldest brother Norberto “Cookie”. He is survived by his dedicated partner and soulmate Sabrina Scruggs; his three daughters Lauren Dolecki, Taren Miller, and Jillian Ramirez and their spouses; his four grandchildren Gianna, Owen, and Addison Dolecki, and Logan Miller; His older brother Miguel “Mickey” and his family; Sabrina’s two daughters Lindsay and Alex and their spouses.
A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m on February 17th, 2025 at the Tampa Firefighter’s Museum, 720 E Zack St. Tampa, FL 33602.
