Clara Hillman Wade
April 3rd, 1939 - January 20th, 2025
Clara H. Wade, age 85, of Frankfort, passed away on Monday, January 20, 2025 at her home.
Clara was born on April 3, 1939 in Trigg County, Kentucky to William Wendell and Ruth (Reynolds) Hillman. She married Charles D. Wade on December 25, 1957 and he preceded her in death on March 25, 2024.
Clara was an active member of First United Methodist Church since moving to Frankfort in 1968. She volunteered for many years as the church financial secretary. She was also involved with United Methodist Women and her Circle.
She retired from the Kentucky Bar Association after working as their Financial Secretary. Previous to the KBA, she worked at Sears and Investors Heritage.
Clara was a devoted mother, grandmother, mother-in-law and friend. She never missed an opportunity to spend time with her grandsons or to fix them a special meal or dessert. She loved everyone and would do anything to make someone else’s life easier. She was strong, intelligent, and extremely independent, not ever wanting to put anyone out but always there to help others. She was the very best mother and grandmother.
Clara is survived by her daughters, Paula Wade, Frankfort, and Shari (Ted) Randle, Versailles; her two grandchildren, Wade Gibson of Frankfort, and Nick Gibson of Versailles; her sister-in-law, Mildred Demers of Michigan; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Charles D. Wade; three brothers, Dan (Kathryn) Hillman, Billy Hillman, and Fred Hillman; and her two sisters, Ann (Jack) Karnes and Margaret (John) Shelton.
Celebration of Clara’s Life will be held at Clark Legacy Center, Versailles Rd on Monday, January 27, 2025 at 12:00pm with Rev. Tom Corum officiating. Visitation is at 11:00. Gathering of Family and Friends will follow until 3:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Frist United Methodist Church Building Fund.
