Dolores Carden Welch
December 25th, 1938 - December 13th, 2024
Dolores Carden Welch, 85, was born 25 December 1938 to Walter Lee Carden and Vivian Maud Motley Carden, in Milwaukee, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She died in Weiser, Washington County, Idaho, on the 13th of December 2024. She is the mother of Bob, Carrie, Patrice, DeAnn, and Paul Welch.
While Bob was in high school, Dolores went back to school taking classes that allowed her to get her GED. This allowed her to work in the Head-start program, and later she held a position with the Bonanza Restaurants in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Eventually she was employed at Walmart and worked for many years in their distribution centers. This provided her the opportunity to live in Arizona, Texarkana, Fort Smith, Bentonville, and Utah. She received many awards that gave her satisfaction that she was doing her job well.
She loved to travel. She toured the United States with her friend Joy, and loved every minute of it. She was thrilled to be able to see Disney World with Bob and his family, and looked back fondly on the visits she had with Patrice as they explored Germany, Czechoslovakia, and Hawaii. She enjoyed checking out the Oregon coast and attending the Portland Temple open-house while visiting family in Oregon. She was interested in hearing about DeAnn’s children as they were growing up and listened with anticipation to Paul as he regaled her with stories from his deployments while serving in the National Guard.
In her spare time, she made dozens and dozens of quilts that she donated to the needy families in the greater St. George area. In 2022 she left many cherished friends and relocated to Weiser, Idaho where she made the acquaintance of a few of her great-grandchildren. She looked forward to visits from Hunter and Autumn in her declining years. Autumn always had something fascinating to show her, and an interesting story to tell.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and enjoyed the friendship of many friends and associates in the Hurricane, Utah community.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings, Betty, Wanda, Stanley, and Ron; and her oldest son, Bob.
Survivors include daughter-in-law, Debbi Durgan Welch, Oklahoma; Carrie and Kelly Bench, Idaho; Patrice and Dan Mishket, San Antonio, Texas, DeAnn Welch,
Fort Smith, Arkansas, and Paul Welch, De Queen, Arkansas. Thirteen grandchildren include Robyna, Robert, Loren, Joshua, Christopher, Sara, Leah, Heather, John, Christopher Wayne, Tyler, Nicholas, and Brooks, all residing in the United States; and great-grandchildren too numerous to mention.
Celebration of Life will be held later this summer when family from out of town can make it. Internment took place on the 7th of January 2025 in the Riverside Cemetery Park, Payette, Idaho.
The family sends many thanks to the Care of Cascadia-Weiser community for their ministrations to Dolores in assuring her comfort and care during her stay with them. They were angels come to earth in regards to her health and well-being.
AN OLD IRISH BLESSING
May the road rise to meet you, May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face, The rains fall soft upon your fields. And until we meet again, May God hold you in the palm of his hand.
May God be with you and bless you: you have seen your children’s children. May you be poor in misfortune, rich in blessings. May you know nothing but happiness From this day forward.
May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the warm rays of The Son fall upon your home, And may the land of a friend always be near.
May green be the grass you walk on, May blue be the skies above you, May pure be the joys that surround you, May true be the hearts that love you.
