Charles "Charlie" Chin
February 5th, 1933 - January 12th, 2025
Charles "Charlie" Chin, passed away on January 12, 2025 at the age of 91. He is preceded in death by the love of his life, Ivy Chin. Charlie was born on February 5, 1933 in Fall River, MA. After graduating from the University of Miami in 1955, he moved to California to pursue his career as an Electronics Engineer with North American Aviation/Rockwell. During his 40 year career, he worked for Rockwell, Raytheon and Northrop, assisting with the development and creation of GPS, antennas and the forward housing of the radar system for Raydome. He also worked on the Minuteman Missile program, Apollo, and the X15, which was the first reentry vehicle that would return astronauts from space. He retired in 1995.
Charlie and Ivy were married in 1958 and they settled down with their 2 daughters in Rancho Palos Verdes California in 1962. Charlie enjoyed traveling, playing bridge every week with his friends, tinkering in his garage, and playing golf. In 2014, Charlie and Ivy moved to Tucson, Az. where they lived out their remaining years.
He is survived by daughters Jennifer and (Chuck) Howe and Cynthia and (Douglas) Loy. Grand children Erica Seehafer-dec’d, Mary and (George) Corneveaux, Emily and (Devin) Doty, Charles Loy and Elizabeth Howe. Great grandchildren Madison Doty, William Corneveaux, Samuel Corneveaux and Grayson Doty. He was extremely smart, mischievous, adventurous, funny, and had a mean sweet tooth. He will be truly missed.
