With great sadness we announce the passing of Katherine “Kathy” B. Stevens, of Caldwell, Idaho, on January 15, 2025, at the age of 91 years young. Kathy was a loving wife, mother, granny, great granny, sister, and friend. She never knew a stranger and loved to be around people.
She was born to Garland and Eva Buchanan on August 31, 1933. She did many things in her life, and it is hard to narrow it down to one thing, other than to say she was the hardest working southern girl you would ever meet. As someone who worked all her life, Kathy managed an RV park with her husband, served as a waitress, and worked at an airplane factory. She and her husband also owned their own restaurants starting with a small hole-in-the-wall. Later in life, she became a CNA. She possessed grit and determination and had a joy for life that was contagious.
Throughout her life, Kathy loved gardening, taking care of her flowers, and spending time with family. She especially enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren and great grandchild, loving every minute she had with them. She also loved feeding the quails and finches that frequented her yard, planting gourds, camping, fishing, RVing with her husband, and panning for gold.
Fiercely loyal, she was always there for those she loved and was very protective of her children. Kathy was the best cook, and nothing beat her biscuits and gravy.
She is preceded in death by her husband, George; her son, Wade Jr.; her parents; her two sisters and four brothers.
She is survived by her daughters, Teresa and Cinde; son-in-law, A.J.; her grandchildren, Regina and Justin; grandson-in-law, Kyle; and her great grandchild, Estela.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Flahiff Funeral Chapel at 624 Cleveland Blvd in Caldwell, Idaho. Burial will be private at Canyon Hill Cemetery.
