Gloria “Gigi” Owens, born on March 15, 1944, in Clinton, Iowa, passed away leaving behind a legacy of compassion, activism, and love.
As a young girl, Gigi demonstrated remarkable intelligence and excelled academically. Her dedication to learning carried her into adulthood, where she became a passionate activist, writing letters to her congressional representatives to advocate for change.
Gigi pursued her education at the University of Colorado Boulder, earning a degree that led her to a career as a social worker. She worked at Adams County Social Services before becoming a case manager at Children’s Network. Her work positively influenced the lives of countless children and their families, embodying her commitment to making the world a better place.
Later in life, Gigi enjoyed a spirited career as a beer vendor with Aramark. Outside of work, she cultivated a variety of hobbies, including quilting and Volksmarching. (American Walking Club) These pastimes brought her joy and deepened her bond with her cherished friend Nancy Reisdorff.
A woman of deep faith, Gigi was actively involved in Mile High Church, where she served as a practitioner and developed many meaningful relationships, including a close friendship with Kathy Reis.
Gigi was predeceased by her beloved daughter, Sharon Owens. She is survived by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who will carry forward her memory and love.
Gigi will be remembered for her kindness, dedication to others, and the light she brought into the lives of everyone she touched. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all those whose lives she impacted.
Services to honor Gigi’s life will be held at Mile High Church 9077 Alameda Ave, Lakewood Colorado January 24, 2025 at 12:00pm. Memorial contributions can be made to Meals on Wheels.
