Organize yourselves; prepare every needful thing; and establish a house, even a house of prayer, a house of fasting, a house of faith, a house of learning, a house of glory, a house of order, a house of God;

Harry Keely Bonfield Jr. (79) died unexpectedly at his home in Tucson, AZ on January 10th, 2025.  Harry was born on December 8th, 1945, to Euline Hortense Cook and Harry K. Bonfield Sr. in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Harry grew up in Nashville Tennessee.  Harry had a long and storied life.  He joined the army in 1968 and served in Viet Nam.

After coming home, he completed a master’s degree in history at Brigham Young University and returned to military intelligence work.  He served in the Army continuously until 1990.  Harry was posted to Fort Huachuca, Sierra Vista in 1974, where he would meet his eternal companion.  He married his wife Bonnie Antonetti on May 6th, 1975, in the Mesa Arizona temple.  They lived in Washington D.C., and Tehran, Iran.  After Iran they moved to Stuttgart, Germany, where their son Robert was born.  Harry and family returned to the United States in 1985, where he served in both New Jersey and Washington D.C. (again).

After 20 years of service, Harry retired from the military in 1990. Afterwards, Harry taught as a substitute teacher at Tucson High, worked at the county jail, as well as participating in CERT and other community preparedness initiatives.  Harry and Bonnie served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at Fort Huachuca, Sierra Vista.  He very much enjoyed serving the next generation of military.

After his mission, Harry spent many years as a temple worker, first in Mesa, then at the Tucson, Arizona temple after it was built.  Harry’s life was one of dedicated service and action.  He was loved by family and community alike.  Donations can be made in his name to the Wounded Warrior Project.

He is survived by his wife Bonnie, his son Robert (Jana), his three grandchildren Erik, Leo, and Sheri, as well as his brother David (Sue).  A funeral service will be held in his honor on February 1, 2025 at noon at the East Stake Center of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (6901 E Kenyon DR.)
