Donald Wayne Konarsky
November 18th, 1953 - January 15th, 2025
We are sadden to inform you all that our beloved Don “Po” Konarsky has passed. Don left us early January 15th, 2025 in his home surrounded by loved ones.
Don was born November 18th, 1953 in Austin Texas but was a long time resident of Colorado Springs Colorado. Born Donald Wayne Konarsky to Helmuth Herman and Mary Ellen Konarsky. Yet we all knew him by so many names. To his family in Texas he was Donnie, to his brothers on the Iron he was Dancing Don. To us he was Don’o, Grandpo, Po-Po or mostly just Po, and to so many others he was Uncle Don.
Don learned his life long profession from his Uncle Hubert, and was a proud Iron Worker that helped construct several buildings in Colorado Springs, and around the country. He worked at the Salvation Army for several years and volunteered at the local food pantry.
He was an amazingly kind man that would jump to help anyone in need. Don loved spending time with his grandkids, fishing, and being in the mountains. But having worked away from home so much he just wanted to enjoy his home, family and friends.
Don is survived by his Colorado Family his wife Barbara Konarsky, daughters Melinda Metz and Lara Valenzuela-Valerio their spouse’s Gretchen Hesselberg and Timmy Valerio, grandchildren Gabirella, Vincent, Angelo, Josiah, and Jason. And so many others who called him Uncle Don.
His brothers on the Iron Dennis Garcia and Johnny Jones the other 2/3 of the “Three Amigo’s”, Dennis Griffin, Salvador Ramos and all the “Breakfast Club members”
His Texas Family brothers Kenny and David Konarsky their spouse’s Nanette and Dawn, nephew’s and niece’s Rebecca, Sherry, Casey, Dillon, and Dae, and several grand and great grand nephew’s and niece’s. A special thanks to Trevor Shaner for representing the Texas family.
We would like to thank you all for helping our family through this terrible time, please know that your support has meant everything to us.
Services will be Friday January 31, 2025 at 1:00 p.m.
