William Edwin Lockett
January 23rd, 1936 - January 13th, 2025
William Edwin Lockett, known affectionately as Bill or Willy, passed away on January 13, 2025, just shy of his 89th birthday. Born on January 23, 1936, in Los Angeles, California, he spent his final years in Chico, California, surrounded by the love of his family.Bill was a devoted husband to Ann Lockett, with whom he shared 40 wonderful years of marriage. He was also a loving father to Michelle Lockett and Michael Lockett, and a proud grandfather to Seth and Kaelin Lockett. His legacy continues through his great-grandson's Shooter & Kash Zamora, great-granddaughter Alayna Zamora and many nephews and nieces throughout the USA. He is survived by his brother David Lockett and was preceded in death by his parents, William and Rosalie Lockett, along with his brothers Robert and Phillip Lockett.A man of many talents, Bill served in the Army from 1955 to 1958, where he played saxophone in the military band while stationed in Europe. After his military service, he dedicated 37 years to Pacific Telephone, retiring as an Engineering District Manager in 1991. Known for his intelligence and mechanical skills, he became the go-to person for family and friends seeking help with just about any problems. His DIY spirit led him to work on countless projects, always maintaining a "to-do" list.Bill had a passion for life that was reflected in his hobbies. He loved water skiing, fishing, golfing (w/Chico Buddies), woodworking, and his cherished 1965 Mustang. His musical tastes leaned towards the smooth sounds of jazz, with favorites including Eric Clapton, BB King and Stan Getz. He found joy in BBQing tri-tips, ribs, his famous Billy burgers and indulging in key lime pie or cookies (favs were Oreo).Travel was a significant part of Bill's life, particularly the journeys he took with Ann in their fifth-wheel trailer, exploring the backroads of the USA. He also enjoyed spending winters camping on the beaches of Baja, Mexico, and cherished family time at their second home in The Dalles, Oregon.Bill's defining characteristics—intelligence, sincerity, positivity, and love—made a lasting impact on those around him. He was a very handsome man who never looked his age. His motto, "No Bad Days," encapsulated his uplifting spirit, as he approached life with ease and a genuine interest in others.He will be remembered not only for his many accomplishments and talents but also for the warmth and kindness he brought into the lives of his family and friends. Bill Lockett leaves behind a rich legacy of love, laughter, and countless memories that will be cherished forever.
Funeral services for immediate family will be held at the Northern California Veterans Cemetery in Igo, CA. A Celebration of Life will be held in the future for all family and friends.
