It is with deep sorrow that our family announces the sudden passing of Jeffrey B. Hasak, age 70, of St. Petersburg, Florida, who died unexpectedly on January 23, 2025.

Jeffrey will be remembered for his gentle spirit, humor, humble heart, and the quiet strength he carried throughout his life. His ability to approach challenges with determination with "stick-to-it-ness" was something those who knew him admired. Through selfless volunteerism, he helped many individuals recover and find happiness again in their lives. Jeffrey possessed creative talent that he brought to his art and every project he tackled. His legacy is one of genuine kindness that transcended the challenges of today’s world. His passing leaves a profound void in the hearts of all who knew him.

Raised in Fairfield, Connecticut, Jeffrey’s love for football began at a young age. As a standout on his Pop Warner team, he helped bring the team to a national championship victory—a triumph that fueled his passion for the sport. Jeff continued playing in high school, earning Fairfield County All-Team honors for positions on both offense and defense as well as Honorable Mention All-State recognition. His talent brought him the opportunity to play for one season at Central Connecticut State College before a knee injury brought an end to his football career.

Jeffrey was the devoted father of Joshua and Joseph Hasak of St. Petersburg, and Jeremy Hasak and (wife Melissa Kaiser) of Reno, Nevada. He raised his sons by taking them on camping trips, fishing expeditions to Fort DeSoto Park, and coaching their youth baseball, and many hours spent with their Boy Scout Troops. Jeffrey retired after 28 years of service to Bayfront Health Medical Center in 2012 and greatly enjoyed countless days relaxing at the beach with his loving partner of 15 years, Joanne Crotteau.

Besides his sons, Jeffrey is survived by his mother, Martha Hasak (Clearwater). He will also be deeply missed by his sisters, Suzanne Akin (Clearwater), Jayne and her husband Jim O’Neill (Palm Harbor), his brothers Peter Hasak (Nahant, Mass.), Gregory Hasak (Clearwater), and Larry Hasak and his wife Renee (Wellington); and his nieces Christina Akin and her fiancé Chet Wachholz (Tampa), Morgana Hasak (Nahant, Mass.), Lindsey Hasak and partner Max Rosenthal (Palo Alto, Calif.); as well as his nephews Spenser Hasak and his wife Casey Hill (Salem, Mass.), Kyle Hasak and his fiancé Jenna Ostwald (Orlando), and Sam Hasak (Marblehead, Mass.); Jeffrey’s former wife and the mother of his children, Amelia Gazzaroli Hasak (St. Petersburg).

Jeffrey was preceded in death by his infant son, Matthew, and by his father, Rudolph — whose memories will forever remain in the hearts of his family.

Jeffrey’s memory will live on through his sons, family, and the lives he touched with his unwavering kindness, quiet humor, and love.

Family and friends are invited to a funeral Mass at St. Catherine of Sienna Church, 1955 South Belcher Road, Clearwater on Thursday, January 30 at 10 a.m. as well as celebration of life following the service. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to The Alzheimer's Foundation. While Jeffrey did not have alzheimers, it would be his wish.
