Gone From My Sight "And, just at the moment when someone says, "There, she is gone," there are other eyes watching her coming, and other voices ready to take up the glad shout, "Here she comes!" " Henry Van Dyke

Patricia Mathers Costello passed from this world and entered eternity on November 30th, 2024.

Pat was a native Californian. She was an alumni of the Star of the Sea Catholic School in San Francisco. She worked for the San Francisco School District for many years. She obtained a California Real Estate license and earned a Top Seller Award. Her favorite job was working at the Coronet movie theatre in San Francisco during high school.

Pat traveled the world extensively with friends and family. Cruising was one of her favorite pastimes. She faithfully kept in touch with friends and extended family for decades, and aimed to get her many Christmas cards mailed before anyone else.  She was a devout Catholic, an avid Scrabble player and a world-class reader.

As an only child, Pat loved being the mother of her six children, seven grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Having a large family was her greatest joy.

Pat was the loving mother of Bill Mathers, Rich Mathers, Sue O'Connor, Scott Mathers, Mike Mathers, and Annie Jarvis; grandmother of John and Patrick O’Connor, Mitchell Mathers, Erica Mathers, Alex and Georgia Mathers, and Jack Jarvis. Pat is also survived by her great grandchildren, Haven(Leo), John (Bowie), Ozlynn, Olive, Scarlett, Arlo, Sally, Ike, Violett and Viper.

Pat was preceded in death by her loving parents, Richard and Isobel Davis, her devoted aunts Mimi O'Leary and Lilabel Davis, and beloved cousin Betty Reddish. Those who knew Pat as a child called her “Tudie”.

Pat was also preceded in death by her first husband William Mathers, her beloved son Bill Mathers, her second husband Thomas Costello, and her companion Franz Von Uckermann.

Patsy will be remembered for her joie de vivre , optimism and colorful sparkly sequins. We’ll always remember her saying “God Bless us, everyone” , “We are so blessed to have a loving family” and her attempts to be the first to wish her children a happy birthday. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved her.

A Memorial Mass will be held at Christ the King Church on February 22nd, 11:00 am, located at 195A Brandon Rd. Pleasant Hill CA 94523.  Reception with light refreshments will follow in the Parish Hall.  (We welcome you to wear your sparkles! )

Donations to the Shriners Hospitals for Children would be appreciated.
