William "Billy" P. Doepel
April 3rd, 1984 - January 21st, 2025
William “Will” “Billy” P. Doepel, 40, passed away on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at Ellis Hospital surrounded by his family. In Will’s last selfless act on earth, he was an organ donor and was able to give the gift of life to many others.
Born on April 3, 1984, in Schenectady, a son of Kelly DiLeva and the late Dwight Doepel. A lifelong resident of the area, Will graduated from Galway High School, class of 2002. He worked for Premise Health as an EMT at the Saratoga Race Course.
Will retired from the Galway Fire Department after many years of service, to continue serving his community with the Ft. Johnson Fire Department. His passion in life was always to help others in their time of need.
He loved to play his Xbox, watch the Patriots play football and watch the Yankees play baseball. He also enjoyed going to the Amsterdam Mohawks games. Along with enjoying spending any time with his wife whether it be going to concerts or just driving around town. Will, will be greatly missed.
On November 29, 2023, Will married his loving wife, Brittany; he is also survived by his mother, Kelly DiLeva; brother, Dwight Doepel, Jr.; niece, his “llama” Alana Ramsay; step siblings, Alicia Sikora-Mendez (Gabriel) and Paul Sikora (Fiancé, Jessica Gigler); father and mother in law, Larry and Bonnie Dawson; his beloved cat, Cheshire. “Billy” also leaves behind his loving Aunt Terry, Uncle Pat, and Uncle John as well as many other aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family.
Funeral services for Will, will be held privately.
Will’s care has been entrusted to Betz, Rossi, Bellinger & Stewart Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam.
