Edward Andrew Watson
September 1st, 1930 - January 25th, 2025
Edward Andrew Watson, age 94, of Versailles KY passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 25, 2025 at Mayfair Manor, Lexington, KY.
Ed was born to Albert John and Nora Marie Morgan Watson on September 1, 1930, in Irwin, PA. He was a Manufacturing Manager for Westinghouse Air Brake in Pennsylvania and transferred to Lexington, KY in 1964. He was the Senior Boy Scout Master of Troop #59 and enjoyed mentoring young men to become responsible citizens. He also enjoyed woodworking and planning for construction projects that included building a house, a cabin close to the ski slopes and two lake houses for the family to enjoy.
He was a member of Forks of Elkhorn Baptist Church in Midway, KY. He had not been able to attend for several years due to his health conditions, but loved his church community.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Virginia Napier Watson, Three sons, Allan Richard (Terry), Lexington KY, Bruce Edward (April) Waco, KY, Rex Randolph (Debbie), Nicholasville, KY, two daughters, Carol Watson Morris, Stoutsville, OH and Pamela Jean Watson Bancroft, Lexington, KY, his step children Georgeanne Gibson, Louisville, KY and Wade Bill Gibson, Lancaster, KY, 10 grandchildren, Shane, Justin, Rich, Chris, Ashley, Taylor, Blake, Zach, Jessica, Alexander, 13 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and several nieces.
He was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Viola Mable Smeltzer Watson, his parents, Albert John and Nora Marie Morgan Watson, and his sister, Shirley (Bob) Bell.
A memorial service is planned for friends and family sometime in March.
