Celebrating the Life of Leroy Manuel Garcia: A Legacy of Love, Music, and Service

On December 9th, 2024, we lost a truly special man—Leroy Manuel Garcia. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Leroy’s life was one of warmth, kindness, and an unwavering passion for music. He passed away peacefully at his home in Pojoaque, New Mexico, but his spirit continues to inspire all who knew him.

Born on January 16, 1941, in Santa Fe, New Mexico, to late Esquipula and Andrea Rendon Garcia, Leroy was one of eleven children. Growing up in a bustling family, he learned early on the importance of connection, loyalty, and hard work. His childhood in Santa Fe shaped him into the caring and generous man everyone came to know and love.

Leroy attended St. Michael’s High School and later proudly served in the Army National Guard. After completing his service, Leroy went on to enjoy a distinguished career at Los Alamos National Laboratory, where he dedicated over 30 years of his life. His work at the lab was marked by a strong commitment to excellence and a deep sense of responsibility, qualities that he brought with him in everything he did. Leroy was known for his integrity and dedication, and he made lasting contributions to the mission of the laboratory.

However, it was meeting Barbara, his beloved wife, that brought the greatest joy to his life. Together, they created a beautiful family, raising three wonderful children: Joseph Garcia, Lawrence Garcia and Loretta Garcia. Leroy’s devotion to his family was unmatched, and his love for them never faltered.

As a grandfather, Leroy’s heart grew even bigger, and his grandchildren—Isabella, Marcos, Viviana, and Lorenzo Garcia—were the lights of his life. He poured his love, wisdom, and laughter into every moment spent with them, creating lasting memories that they will cherish forever.

One of Leroy’s greatest joys in life was his passion for music. Whether he was playing his favorite songs, singing along, or sharing his musical knowledge, his infectious enthusiasm always filled the room. Leroy had a gift for making those around him feel the joy of music, and his love for it brought people together. It’s no surprise that his legacy lives on through the songs he cherished and the way he shared that passion with everyone he met.

Leroy’s life reminds us to live fully, love deeply, and always find joy in the little things. Not only did he love music, he also loved his gardening and Oh YES, he loved his trees. Every summer he be outside planting and watering his trees. He knew what kind of tree he was planting. He inherited his love for gardening from his father Esquipula Garcia. We would not be surprised if Jesus has our father working in the gardens in heaven. Leroy’s memory will forever echo in the hearts of his children, grandchildren, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

As we remember Leroy, we do so with gratitude and a smile. We celebrate a life well-lived—a life filled with love, laughter, service, and the sweet sounds of music. Leroy’s legacy will continue to inspire us, reminding us to live life with the same passion and joy he so freely shared.

Rest in peace, Leroy. You may no longer be with us, but your love, your contributions, and your music will resonate in our hearts for generations to come.

Rosary Mass Service will be held on February 20th,2025 at 10:30 at Cristo Rey Catholic Church 1107 Cristo Rey St. Santa Fe NM 87501/Reception to follow
