Ingeborg Lotte Bentz, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and nurse, passed away peacefully on January 22, 2025, in Loveland, Colorado, at the age of 91. Born on September 24, 1933, in Flensburg, Germany, Inge was the second of Karl and Ilse Thannemann’s four children. Her early years were marked by the tumultuous backdrop of World War II, as her father's naval career with the German Navy took the family to different parts of the country, finally settling for a while in Oberammergau, Bavaria. Inge’s journey from nurse in training with the German Red Cross led her to the bustling United Kingdom and, ultimately, to the United States. Her passionate commitment to nursing was evident from her on-call duty living in a hospital in Germany, to her role in Trion, North Carolina, influenced by Dr. Bazeen, a renowned physician on General Eisenhower's medical staff. Seeking a cooler climate, Inge relocated to Albuquerque, New Mexico, and devoted 25 years at Presbyterian Hospital, specializing in heart and other surgeries. Her dedication and expertise earned her a respected position and left a profound impact on her colleagues and patients alike. After a brief tenure at a VA hospital, Inge moved to Colorado to be closer to her two sons, Karl and Jeff Whiting. In 1998, in Loveland, Inge met the love of her life, Chuck Bentz, through a shared faith at the Lutheran Church, where she had been a caring presence for those in need. They were united by their faith and began a cherished chapter in their lives filled with love and devotion. Inge was a woman of profound kindness and generosity, known for her loyalty and thoughtful nature. She had a vibrant love for life’s many pursuits, from traveling and skiing to knitting, cooking, gardening, reading, and singing in the church choir. She shared these joys with her five beloved grandchildren, imparting her passions and life lessons on them. Her warmth and compassion were felt by many and she will be remembered fondly by her siblings, her extended family, and her community. Inge's memory will forever be cherished in the hearts of all those who knew and loved her. A memorial service to celebrate Inge’s life will be held on Thursday, January 30, 2025, at 10:30 am at Mount Olive Lutheran Church, followed by a reception at the church. In loving memory, those wishing to express their condolences are invited to comfort the family by joining them to honor and remember a life truly well-lived. May there be comfort in knowing that she is now with the Lord in Glory, held forever in His care.
