James "Country Jim" V. Phelps
July 8th, 1941 - January 20th, 2025
Phelps, James (aka Country Jim), 83 of Sun City Center, FL passed away on January 20, 2025 at home. He was born in Summerset, Kentucky, and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vertis and Viola Phelps; his siblings Huger Phelps, Helen Mitchell, Frankie Phelps, Wendell Phelps, and Anna Marie Phelps.
James is survived by his loving and devoted companion, Jeanie Smith; siblings Barb Roberts, Fay Lane, and Joyce Dean Roy; many children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces of a blended family.
James retired from commercial plumbing and then worked at Comair Airlines (for flying privileges). He loved traveling to distant locations. He was also an avid square-dancing participant, including being the caller. His interests included clogging, fishing, and later in life, karaoke.
He was known as “Country Jim”, singing the country classic songs. Also let's not forget his love for casinos. He was a veteran of the Air Force and a member of the Shriners.
He had a great sense of humor, was always a great friend, and was an honorable man who strived to never hurt anyone. He will be remembered and loved by all who knew him.
We love you, Jimmy!
