Bill Keith Carson
October 13th, 1937 - January 12th, 2025
On Sunday, January 12, 2025, Bill Carson passed away, after a long illness.
The youngest of 5 children, born to James and Barbara (Leopoldus) Carson, Billy Keith was born October 13, 1937, at the family home in Loveland CO. Before reaching school age, Bill's family moved to Cheyenne WY. He graduated from Cheyenne Central High School, where he met his future wife, Lavonne Loveland.
After his graduation Bill spent a year at Central Bible Institute in Springfield MO. At the time, undergraduates weren't allowed to marry, during the 4 years of school, unless they were engaged, upon entering. So before leaving, Bill asked for Lavonne's hand. They married in 1956, and then the following Spring, Bill transferred to Southern California College (now Vanguard University), where he graduated, in 1961, with his bachelor's degree- the first member of his family to do so. Bill and Lavonne continued to live in CA, and several years later, their daughter, Cheryl, was born.
Deciding that Cheryl needed to be raised around family, they moved back to Loveland CO, where several extended family members lived, and which happened to be well situated, between other family members in Denver as well as Cheyenne.
Bill worked several jobs, until the opening of the Orchards King Soopers. He opened that store and worked there until he retired. Most of that time, he was a checker, and had many people that would seek him out, to go through his line. In fact, getting to know Cheryl's mother-in-law, well before Cheryl met her.
In the mid 1990s, Bill and Lavonne followed their (now married) daughter, moving all the way from Loveland to Berthoud, and settled in as their new and favorite job- GRANDPARENTS.
He was someone who tried to record as much as possible (photos, home movies, videos), for posterity, so that those around him could relive and remember special times, in their lives. He loved music, especially gospel and barbershop. He always loved a good (terrible) joke- towards the end, every doctor's visit, when he was asked for his date of birth, would say, "10/13/37, and despite the way I look, it's 1937, not 1837." He also always changed the last line of Home on the Range, to say, "Cause what would an antelope say." His best friend, since kindergarten, was still his best friend (aside from Lavonne), and they would have frequent visits to get together and play dominos.
In early 2024, as his health continued to decline, he began working with Pathways, first for Palliative Care, then transitioning to Hospice. They were a tremendous help in his final year.
Bill is survived by his wife, Lavonne, daughter, Cheryl (and son-in-law, Chris), and granddaughters, Miranda (and fiancée Josh) and Faith (and husband Dylan).
At Bill's request, there be no service.
