Diane V Rice
October 11th, 1934 - January 23rd, 2025
Diane Rice, 90, of Chico, California passed away peacefully on January 23, 2025. Born to Glenn and Verona Beauchamp. A beloved wife, mother, mother in-law, grandmother and great-grandmother. She met the love of her life, Chester Rice, while attend?ing nursing school in Sacramento, California where she graduated as a RN. Chester, stationed in Sacra- mento with the U.S. Air Force, swept her off her feet, they fell deeply in love, marrying just a short 13 months later. Together, they shared a devoted and fulfilling marriage, building a beautiful life and raising three children (Lori, Kevin and Darren). After graduating from nursing school Diane and her husband, Chester, faced a pivotal decision: remain in Sacramento for Chester to accept a position with IBM or move to Chico, California to begin a farming career. They ultimately chose Chico, embarking on a successful 35-year farming journey that would define their lives and the legacy they built together. They first farmed with Dianes father for 15 years then branched out on their own for another 20 years. Diane played an integral role in their farming operation. In the early years, by days she helped Chester by delivering the farm crops (beans, milo, wheat, barley and rice) to processing plants. By night, she managed the accounting aspects of running a successful farm. They later transitioned to growing Almonds, and with their sons help their farming legacy continues to this day. Diane will be remembered for her love of watching her favorite sports teams (Warriors, 49’ers and Giants) year-round, traveling the world through her books, raising her chickens, growing her beautiful flower and vegetable gardens and her beloved orchids. Her creative talents were endless – sewing clothes for herself and loved ones, knitting, & crafting intricate embroidery pieces and breathtaking cross-stitch /count across creations. She also enjoyed teaching Lori how to create count across tissue box crea- tions. Diane had a gift for baking, filling their home with the warm and comforting smells of her famous yeast rolls, apple pies and chocolate cakes, which will be remembered by family and all who were lucky enough to enjoy them. Diane is survived by her children Lori Smith (Larry), Kevin Rice (Cindy), Darren Rice (Melissa), grandchil- dren Glenn Berry (Casey), Melissa Kirk (Matt), Elaina Strong (Kasey), Sarah Walls, Justin Lister (Shannon), Victoria Chaplin (Robert), Jessica Wilcox (Dalton), Larry Smith Jr., Andrew Smith (Megan) and great grandchildren Conner (Morgan), Caden, Benjamin, McKenna, Josie, Sam, Monroe, Melody, Daphnie, Landon, Sawyer, Ava, Justin, Emma, Jameson and Sawyer. Diane was preceded in death by her parents Glenn and Verona Beauchamp, and her husband, Chester Rice. A graveside service will be held February 6, 2025, at 12:00pm Pine Creek Cemetery, Chico, CA. Family and friends are invited to celebrate her life and share memories. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Diane’s honor to the Wounded Warrior Project or the American Cancer Society. Diane will be deeply missed but her memory will forever live on in the hearts of her family and those who knew and loved her. Arrangements are entrusted to Brusie Funeral Home
