It is with profound respect and solemn reflection that we commemorate the life of Robert J. Rossman, who passed away on January 25, 2025, in Puyallup, Washington. Born on April 19, 1934, in Brookings, South Dakota, Robert lived a life marked by dedication, service, and love—a testament to a spirit that embraced life's journey in all its dimensions.

Robert's early years were spent in White, South Dakota where he cultivated a strong academic and personal foundation at White High School, graduating in the class of 1952. His commitment to serve led him to enlist in the United States Air Force in 1953, where he dedicated over two decades to his country. A proud and decorated veteran, Robert flew cargo during the Vietnam Conflict and retired in 1975 at McChord Air Force Base, leaving behind a legacy of honor and bravery.

After his military service, Robert transitioned to a significant leadership role as the Gulf/Chevron Plant Manager until 1982. His career was characterized by a steadfast dedication to excellence and a profound sense of responsibility, both of which earned him the respect of colleagues and peers alike.

Beyond his professional achievements, Robert was a man of many interests and delightful hobbies. His love for photography allowed him to capture life's beautiful moments, while his passion for golf and fishing provided him serene escapes amidst nature's splendor. For 24 years, he joyously served as a course marshal at Eagles Pride Golf Course, a testament to his commitment and enthusiasm for the sport.

Those who knew Robert will remember a conversational soul who never met a stranger. He cherished his family deeply, sharing an unyielding devotion that was reciprocated by those who loved him. He is survived by his first wife, Rita Kuklish, his children Ray Charles Rossman, Lori L. Wright, and Lynne M. Blackwood, as well as brothers David Rossman, sisters Mavis Miller, Pat Hakeman, and Shirley Hagle. His enduring legacy continues through his three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Robert was predeceased by his parents, Edna and Raymond Rossman, his brother Lyle Rossman, and his second wife, Donna J. Rossman. He will be solemnly missed yet fondly remembered, with an enduring gratitude for the love and joy he brought into our lives.

A memorial service to honor Robert’s life will be held on February 4, 2025, at 11 AM, at 455 North St SE, Tumwater, WA 98501. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, reflecting Robert’s enduring spirit of service and solidarity with his fellow servicemen and women.

May his memory be a guiding light and his life a source of inspiration to all who knew and loved him.
