With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Kenneth W. Simpson, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and dedicated educator, who departed peacefully on January 30, 2025, in Warner Robins, Georgia, at the age of 75. A visitation to honor Kenneth's life will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2025, between 5 PM and 7 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service on Sunday, February 2, 2025, at 3 PM in the chapel of Heritage Memorial Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Parkway Memorial Gardens.

 

Born on April 9, 1949, in Macon, Georgia, Kenneth's life was a testament to his unwavering commitment to education, family, and community. Kenneth's journey in education began soon after he completed his own schooling. A proud alumnus of Northside High School, where he was honored as "Best Personality" in 1967, Kenneth pursued higher education passionately. He earned his undergraduate degree from Middle Georgia State University, a Bachelor’s degree in American History from the University of Georgia in 1971 and continued to excel, obtaining a Master's degree in Education from Fort Valley State University. His love for teaching was evident in his distinguished career at Lindsey Elementary and Tabor Middle School, where he was celebrated as Teacher of the Year in 1996.

 

Beyond the classroom, Kenneth's contributions to Little League Baseball left a lasting legacy. He served as a traveling umpire, District Administrator for District 5, President of the National League of Warner Robins and, notably, was instrumental in building a cherished local baseball field known as Simpson Park. His love for community was show also by his dedication and service with the Civitan Club and was recognized as the Man of the Year in 1976.

 

He is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Glenda Duckworth Simpson, his children Elizabeth (Jose) Simpson-Ordonez of Toledo, Spain, Autumn (Jimmy) Smith of Cordele, Georgia, and Ken (Helena) Simpson, Jr. of Seattle, Washington. His six grandchildren, Lucas, Amelia, Gabriel, Julianna, Avelyn, and Jimmy, will forever cherish memories of their grandfather. Kenneth is also survived by his mother, Jo Simpson, his sisters, Lynn (Cliff) Stephens and Shelia (Jack) Howell, along with numerous in-laws, nieces, and nephews who will all dearly miss his warm presence and wisdom. He is preceded in death by his father, Calvin Simpson.

 

Kenneth W. Simpson will be remembered not only for his professional achievements but also for his heartfelt dedication to his family and community. His legacy as an educator and mentor will continue to inspire future generations, and his memory will forever be etched into the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
