In Loving Memory

In loving memory, we announce the passing of Joyce M. Bovat, a cherished mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, on January 29, 2025, in Palmer, MA. Joyce was born as the only child to the late Bertha and Fred Holcomb on April 1, 1942, in Ware, MA,

and was a graduate of Palmer High School.

Joyce was predeceased by her beloved husband of 57 extraordinary years, Ralph Bovat, as well as her son, Scott Bovat, and daughter, Tina Skowyra. She is survived by her devoted daughter, Sheila, and son-in-law, John of Barre, MA, and son, Glen Bovat of Gardner. Joyce’s legacy continues through her 8 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, each of whom she cherished deeply.

For over 30 years, Joyce dedicated herself to her career as a ward secretary at Wing Hospital and Medical Center, where her professionalism and kindness left a lasting impression on colleagues and patients alike. Her commitment to her work was evidenced by her enduring tenure, and she retired with fond memories of her time there.

Joyce was a former member of the Mill Valley Snowmobile Club in Belchertown, where she enjoyed snowmobiling adventures with her children and grandchildren. She and her late husband, Ralph, also found joy in the peaceful settings of their second home at Camperama Campground in Townshend, VT, relishing shared moments of tranquility and the great outdoors.

In her liesure, Joyce loved playing Bingo at Amvets and always looked forward to her evening phone calls with her sister-in-law, Carol Leroux.

Joyce's family would like to thank the staff at the D'Amour Center, Baystate Medical Center, and Joyce's home health aids for the compassionate care that was provided to Joyce in the last few years.

In honor of Joyce's life, a graveside service will be scheduled in the spring, allowing family and friends a moment to celebrate a life beautifully lived. Those who wish to express their condolences are encouraged to donate to the American Cancer Society in her name, continuing Joyce's spirit of caring for others.
