Sarah Sue Walker
August 17th, 1940 - January 24th, 2025
Sarah Sue Walker, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on January 24, 2025. Sarah’s warm heart and radiant smile touched everyone she ever met. Born on August 17, 1940, she grew up in Wahpeton, ND, where she met her lifelong friend Janice Gould. It was Jan who introduced her to Milbur "Mel" Walker, with whom she married and had two children.
In 1983, Sarah and Mel bought a farm in Isanti. While Sarah often embraced the joys of country life, she always missed their home in Bloomington. She cherished many close friendships in every place she lived, including Janice, Lucille, Karil, Elvira, Aleda, and Helga, to name just a few.
Sarah’s greatest joy was her family. She was especially close to her daughter, Melissa, who oversaw her care through many years of illness. Sarah adored her three grandchildren—Jane, Liam, and Margaret—and was delighted by watching them grow. Sarah’s love for people, her contagious spirit, and her unshakeable kindness, born out of her Christian beliefs, will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Sarah was preceded in death by her parents, siblings and husband, Mel. She is survived by her son Doug, daughter Melissa (Jesse), and her grandchildren. A celebration of Sarah’s life will be held in the coming days to honor a woman whose smile could light up any room and whose love for her family and friends knew no bounds.
