Aspen Mortuaries - Lakewood
Norman Leslie Wilson
November 16th, 1948 - January 5th, 2021
Norman L. Wilson spent his last day in the loving presence of his daughters Sarah Wilson Polli and Maggie Wilson Carraher. He called his daughters every day until he could no longer do so. Norm passed in the early hours of January 5, 2021, following many years challenged by Multiple Sclerosis and Diabetes. We will always remember Norm as an avid skier who loved his earlier life in Snowmass Village, Colorado, and cherished his time with family. Norm was born November 1948 in Omaha, Nebraska and was raised by his parents Marian and Raymond Wilson on a farm outside Blair, Nebraska. Norm attended school in Blair until beginning his studies at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln where he majored in Agricultural Economics. Norm was known as a prankster both in high school and as a member of the Sigma Nu Fraternity in Lincoln. He graduated from the University in May 1972. Norm married Paula Keuter Wilson O†™Donnell December 1970 and they lived for a time in Columbus, Nebraska where Norm was a field agent for the farm equipment company Behlen Manufacturing. It was in Columbus that Sarah Wilson Polli was born to Paula and Norm. They subsequently relocated to Colby, Kansas, where daughter Maggie Wilson Carraher was born. Norm continued his work in the agriculture business. When the marriage ended, Norm began a new career in the tourism and property management business in Snowmass Village, Colorado where he lived many of his best days. He enjoyed working at The Top of the Village, The Interlude and The Tamarack properties, making friends with property owners and everyone in town. He described skiing gleefully downhill with the song †œGet Back† by the Beatles as his background rhythm. He particularly enjoyed summer visits from Sarah and Maggie and loved taking them to rodeos, camping, jeeping, and sharing many other adventures. When Multiple Sclerosis slowed Norm†™s ability to continue his life in Snowmass, he briefly moved back to the family farm in Nebraska. Once his health stabilized, he relocated to the Denver area to be closer to his daughters. He loved playing cards, driving his Buick Skylark convertible, watching football games, reading westerns and mysteries, and enjoying his grandchildren. Norm was preceded in death by his parents and former wife Paula Keuter Wilson O†™Donnell. He is survived by daughters Sarah Wilson Polli (John) of Golden, Colorado; Maggie Wilson Carraher (Jon Vaught) of Longmont, Colorado; grandchildren Ashtyn and Rylan Revious, and Hannah and Gianna Polli. He is also survived by sister Rita Wilson-Glover (Jerry) of Blair, Nebraska; sister-in-law Mary Carraher Keuter of Loveland, Colorado; nieces Sheila (Chris) Baylis of Hampton Bays, New York; Makayla Maguire of Blair, Nebraska; Stephenie Johnson of Blair, Nebraska. Honorary Pallbearers: John Polli, Jeff Revious, Jon Vaught, Curt Holstein, Kevin Wibbels, Roger Stricklett, and Roger Mathiesen. Memorial gifts can be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society https://www.nationalmssociety.org/Donate or a charity of your choice. While no formal services will be scheduled at this time, family and friends will join together in celebrating Norm†™s life this Summer 2021 in Snowmass Village, Colorado to honor his wishes to hike Mt. Sopris in Carbondale, Colorado to spread some of his ashes. Condolences can be shared on the Aspen Mortuary website https://www.aspenmortuaries.com/
