Kathryn Wright Jackson
February 23rd, 1935 - January 29th, 2025
Kathryn Wright Jackson, age 89, of Charlotte, NC passed away peacefully on January 29, 2025. She was born in Lincolnton, NC on February 23, 1935, to Leonard and Mary Wallace Wright. She graduated from Lincolnton High School in 1952 and from the Women's College of UNC-Greensboro in 1956 with a degree in Education. Kathryn was a devoted teacher for several years before marrying F. Robert Jackson in 1961.
Kathryn was an active and cherished member of Matthews United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Elizabeth Patrick Sunday School Class. She was known for her warmth and hospitality, always ready to welcome anyone with open arms. Kathryn had a deep love for her neighbors and friends, she enjoyed playing bridge & card games, especially at the family lake house. She was a talented seamstress, a lover of flowers and had a special place in her heart for her grandchildren, whom she adored.
Kathryn was also known for her famous pound cakes, sweet tea and her ability to light up any room she entered. She never met a stranger and was a true ray of sunshine to all who know her.
She is survived by her children, Lisa Dowless (Victor) of Mooresville, NC, and Robert Jackson (Alicia) of Atlanta, GA, her sister Becky Wright of Charlotte and her nieces and nephews. Kathryn was a proud grandmother to Jackson and Cole Dowless, Will and Kate Jackson and a great-grandmother to Jasper Dowless. She is predeceased by her husband Bob and grandson, Hunter Dowless , and her brother David Wright.
A celebration of life will be held at Matthews United Methodist Church, 801 S. Trade Street, Matthews, NC on Friday, February 21st at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Matthews United Methodist Church or to the Ronald McDonald House of Charlotte, 1613 E. Morehead Street, Charlotte, NC 28207.
